January in Kyoto
Gion and Higashiyama put the classic Kyoto lanes, temples and tea houses at your door, with the prettiest early mornings and the highest prices. Downtown around Shijo-Kawaramachi is the practical base: restaurants, shops, two subway lines and walkable evening food. Kyoto Station is for transport and value, with the Shinkansen at your feet but most sights a bus ride away.

Send me the trip. I’ll send back the area.
Dates, budget, who’s travelling and the one thing you don’t want to deal with. I’ll answer with a specific base, not a brochure.
