July in Bangkok
Sukhumvit is the most convenient all-rounder: hotels at every price, the BTS Skytrain, and food from street stalls to fine dining. Silom and the riverside suit couples and business travellers, with the river boats, a calmer evening and the city's grand old hotels. The Old City is where the temples are, best for early sightseeing and atmosphere, but hot, low-rise and less convenient at night.
Rainy season
Afternoons can bring heavy showers, often short-lived but enough to slow traffic and soak a walk. Keep an indoor option for each day and treat the rain as a reason for a café or museum stop rather than a lost afternoon. The city is at its greenest, and evenings after the rain are often more comfortable.
November to February is the cool season and the most requested window, so book early for the best rooms. March to May is the hot season, when sightseeing is best early and late, with a real break at midday. June to October is the rainy season: heavy showers are common but usually pass, and the city is greener and quieter between them.
