March in Venice
San Marco is the postcard and the most convenient base for a first, short visit, at the highest prices and heaviest crowds. Cannaregio is the lived-in Venice: canal-side bars, better value and an easy walk from the train station. Dorsoduro is quieter and artier, with the Accademia and Salute on the doorstep and fewer tour groups at night.

Send me the trip. I’ll send back the area.
Dates, budget, who’s travelling and the one thing you don’t want to deal with. I’ll answer with a specific base, not a brochure.
